Very quickly, because I need to be in bed.

1. On Thursday, I bought a hunter green 1994 Nissan Sentra LE, 148k miles, all power, cruise, sunroof, in good shape, drives like a dream. Book was $2200, he was asking $1800, I took it down for $1600. (I’m an excellent negotiator.) This came after a pretty long ordeal of sifting through ads, driving all over the consolidated metropolitan statistical area to see them, patiently explaining to the seller why they were asking too much money, getting rejected while laughing bemusedly to myself (the dude with the ‘90 Corolla identical to Porter’s wanted about $300 too much, otherwise we’d be driving identical shitbombs), and repeating the process. I came to terms on an ‘89 Camry on Tuesday, then watched it slip through my fingers on Wednesday when someone showed up with cash in hand while I was hemming and hawing my way to the bank. I learned my lesson, withdrew a wad of cash, and was ready to pounce on the much better value in the Sentra. Got her titled and registered today, and I pick her up in the morning, leave her in the hands of the good people at Jiffy Lube for an hour or so, then cruise over to the Triangle to repeat the “look at my new car” ritual until Ross clocks me. I also ordered vanity plates — “J-RMPAGE” — and I’ll have pictures in four to six weeks.

2. Julie Tudor, playing the role of “smitten older woman/guardian angel,” hipped me to the quasi-legal practice of buying prescription drugs over the Internet from Canadian pharmacies. A few points and clicks later, I fax my driver’s license and prescription to the Canucks, and I have a three month supply of Canadian generic Zoloft headed my way, and I paid far less than I would have by going the COBRA-premium-plus-copay route. So, screw off, completely fucked American insurance industry!

3. I’ve been very busy with my unemployment claim, but I best not discuss the details until the claim is settled, which won’t be for awhile. Oh man, ask me about it in person, or wait two minutes for me to volunteer the story.

4. Job search is going well, better than the last two times, I reckon. Already have a relationship with a recruiter, she called me the day after I submitted my corrected resume, and I’m starting to work my network hard. I have good feelings about things falling into place and the things I’m doing to make that happen.

I think that’s about it for right now. Please let me know if you have any questions.
