This is why I want to name my first-born son Ian.

Jethro Tull is my favorite rock band of all time — and when I found out that Ian Anderson was playing Durham on Tuesday, I was heartbroken when I did a little quick math and realized I couldn’t afford to go.

But then my man Ethan Kaye sent me an article from the AP wire telling the story of some slope-heads in Jersey calling for a Tull radio boycott because of my man Ian’s reasonable comments to the effect of “nationalism is stupid,” and I thought, I gotta support my man. And since I got my first unemployment check in the mail today, I think Ian would want me there.

So me and my man Ethan are going to be there, second balcony, eighth row, over to the left probably. And if you can’t make it to the concert, then fire up the phonograph and put your vinyl copy of Aqualung on, because nationalism is stupid.
