Not helping the heterosexual cause, here.
March 16th, 2004 | by Scott Jennings |Time for me to come out of the closet: I’m an American Idol fan. Katy got me hooked from the season premiere, and I don’t think I’ve missed more than one episode since. I was way too cool for the first two seasons, and now, I can only imagine what I missed. I adore Simon Cowell, naturally, because he makes me look like a freaking Care Bear as a director. This show is just so sublime on so many levels.
So here’s my impressions of tonight’s show, the first with the twelve finalists:
- John Stevens is my early favorite, despite the girlfriend-has-a-crush factor, and even though he didn’t give his best performance tonight. I love the throwback style, I love his voice.
- Fantasia Barrino is my other favorite, this girl can fucking sing, and she’s from not far from here. I will also root for her.
- I hate George Huff with every fiber of my being. I just have this bias against the big smiling dumb guy who doesn’t know anything else to do but smile. Even though his performance tonight was his best yet, I will still vigorously root against him.
- I also can’t stand this idiot Matt Rogers, the smiling and singing football player pisses me off so much, and I don’t know how else to explain it.
- Jon Peter Lewis pissed me off pretty badly in the wildcard show, but he made up for it with his performance tonight. He can stay for now.
- Leah Labelle looked great with her hair straightened, but her performance was embarassing. She must go first.
- I’ve already forgotten about all the others.
My vote this week went to John Stevens, I want to help keep him around, he’s better than his performance tonight. Tune in tomorrow!
