Hum… bug?
December 26th, 2004 | by Scott Jennings |Katy’s family does Christmas right. Big dinner on Christmas Eve (I deep-fried a turkey and a ham), then gather ’round the fire for storytelling and the opening of one gift each. In a coincidence so stunning it may require further investigation, everyone received holiday-themed pajamas.
On with the pajamas! Off to bed! (Instead of sugarplum fairies, I had a weird dream where I was on a holiday float with Jake Fogelnest and we were being shot at, so the float had to speed up and I had to hang on for dear life. Later, I was at a poker game of some sort, and Ellix Powers called me with jack high.)
I woke up a few minutes before 8am, heard Katy’s brother stirring, got up to use the bathroom, roused Katy out of bed (easiest rousing EVER), and we ran downstairs and opened presents. Boy, did I clean up! I got the Trivial Pursuit SNL edition, a meat thermometer fork, a wallet, a William Hung bobblehead and his Christmas album, two books I’ve been dying for (An Incomplete Education and the 2005 almanac), two flippin’ sweet DVDs (Napoleon Dynamite and a Family Guy set), and a gift card. Wow!
Katy loved her portrait, it was totally worth all the driving around to get it framed professionally and all the misdirection to keep her off the trail.
And then Katy played with her new GameCube and I went back to sleep. Tee hee! Best Christmas ever!
