Also, I daydream about winning the Super Bowl.
January 6th, 2005 | by Scott Jennings |I’m really looking forward to the end of the semester break and the reunification of the team I’m directing. We’ve been treading water at an awkward time in the new team’s development — just as we begin to hit our stride, half the team has the audacity to go visit their families. It’s the big downside to doing this work in a college town.
So when I read Eric Drowatzky’s frustrations coaching his high school’s swim team, I felt his pain. Sometimes I daydream about a group of improvisers who show up on time for every rehearsal, show up at call time for shows, doesn’t make bad excuses ten minutes before an obligation, and truly sees the team as their primary artistic committment and works tirelessly to support each other and guarantee the team’s success.
Mind you, I’m not complaining — I love this team and I do everything I can to meet their challenges with them head-on — I’m just daydreaming.
