Good weekend!

On Friday, blah blah blah blah blah, I bought some new shoes!!! It’s a miracle! I can’t stop talking about how wonderful these shoes are! Sure, they’re the most expensive shoes I’ve ever owned, but they are so completely worth it. I feel like I’m walking on a cloud. Katy doesn’t like them, I think she’d have preferred it if I chose a sneaker with like 12 colors or something. Personally, I think it’s a wonder that I’ve given up on my black Nikes and am finally investing in a well-made shoe that’ll keep me comfortable on my feet. A big man is hard on his shoes, and I’m not an easy size (14 2E, 3E if you’ve got it), so when I find a pair I like, I can’t say no. Katy had to restrain me from changing my shoes on the bench outside the store.

My little brother Jeff rolled into town on Saturday with his new girlfriend Shanna. He made himself useful and fixed my laptop, and we all went out for sushi at Waraji in Raleigh, which gets my serious serious high recommendation. Katy works there and loves to eat there, which should also speak highly of the place. They serve the best sushi I’ve had outside of New York, they’re the only sushi bar in the area that has the facility to store their fish fresh, and the tuna sashimi just melts in your mouth. I also had gyu tataki (thin-sliced lightly-seared beef over sweet onions and sauce with grated ginger) for the first time, and it was incredible. I love this place. Best restaurant in the area.

Katy and I had a great rehearsal on Sunday in preparation for our debut as a comedy duo on March 29th. I’m very very excited about this show, quite naturally. And my new unnamed Harold team also had a great rehearsal later that day, and I’m also rather excited to be a part of that project, too.

And yes, Carolina beat Duke, and I feel pretty comfortable announcing here that I am a Carolina fan, even though it feels like I ended up that way due to Bernoulli’s principle. I taped the game since I had rehearsal, took insane measures to keep from knowing the outcome until I’d have a chance to see it later that night, just to have the secret spoiled by Katy, who blurted out the score just as I was saying, “I taped it.” Oh well. I saved time, fast forwarded to the end, jeebus, that was incredible. I’m still a little nervous about this team’s chances in the NCAA tournament, but I’ll remain cautiously optimistic.
