Society on an even keel.

I can’t believe there was a point in my life when I didn’t fill out an NCAA bracket and fully immerse myself in the whole March Madness deal. Seriously. I used to be way too cool for college basketball (well, D1 basketball, at least — my alma mater plays tonight in the national semifinals of the D3 tournament, and I’m PUMPED!), and now I have no idea how I ever lived without passing judgment on Villanova and New Mexico. (LET’S GO LOBOS!)

Seriously, last night Katy and I sat glued to the set, screaming for West Virginia to finish off Creighton. A completely meaningless game! But we both had West Virginia in our brackets, and we both toasted the down-to-the-wire success of the Mountaineers. And then I asked Katy rhetorically if she was having fun (since she clearly was), and she stopped and thought and equivocated. “I guess?”

I went 14 for 16 on the first day (missed on Wisconsin-Milwaukee and UAB), and Katy went a very respectable 12 for 16. I’m anticipating another day of acceptable prognostication, and then my bracket will be in shambles by 6pm tomorrow. I’ll keep you posted.
