Dave Siegel’s my parsimonious soulmate.

After a nice evening wishing Jon Miles a good journey to Pakistan, I hereby restore my personal ban on Armadillo Grill. Not only is their website incredibly shitty, but they’re the worst food value I’ve ever seen.

I spent $17 on dinner for myself tonight — a burrito, two soft tacos, chips & guacamole, and a soda. Seventeen American dollars.

You’ll note that their shitty website doesn’t include any prices, otherwise you’d realize that a chicken soft taco starts at $2, and if you want anything on it, you’re shelling out. 15 cents for cheese, 5 cents for lettuce (MONEY FOR LETTUCE!), 10 cents for tomatoes. The bidding for a burrito starts at five clams. A cup of melted Velveeta and some chips is completely ridiculous.

And don’t get the idea that this is like a cloth napkin kind of joint — you’ll be standing in line to place your order, standing around to pick your food up from the counter, and bussing your own table. It’s a fast food joint, an overdone Taco Bell. The food is tasty, but it’s not $17 tasty.

So that’s that. I enjoyed my evening with friends wishing Jon Miles well, but don’t expect me to set foot in that trap ever again. I’ll fill up for $6 at the New China Buffet, thanks.

In other news, I’m a cheap bastard.
