You will burn for this, Ethan Kaye.
November 11th, 2005 | by Scott Jennings |The news came down today: Arrested Development, far and away the best show currently on television and strong contender for Best Show Ever, had its current season reduced to 13 episodes, which means it’s cancelled.
I choose to blame Ethan Kaye.
For one thing, he’s an asshole. For another, in my mind, he’s the poster child for the “I’m far too important to be bothered to watch something as vulgar as television on a regular basis, oh oh, Allah forfend, but once you put the series out on DVD, well, I’ll be right there to buy it and crow loudly about how brilliant it is, even though as far as anyone at any network is concerned, I don’t watch the show” attitude that’s killing good television.
Arrested Development was a very smart show on a medium where not many smart things happen. If the smart people aren’t going to support the smart shows, then Ethan Kaye, you can burn in hell right alongside me, buddy.
(note: in the unlikely event that another network picks the show up, my condemnation of Ethan Kaye straight to the depths of Hades will be reversed)
