A weight lifted.
March 9th, 2006 | by Scott Jennings |It’s been a weird week or ten days. So weird, I need two lists.
The Good:
- Jeff’s wedding went off with only the hitches you’d expect. (For example, the DJ didn’t show up until 45 minutes into the reception. And the bachelor’s party sucked, but that wasn’t my fault.) The bride was beautiful, the ceremony was lovely, I looked awesome in a tuxedo, and the stress of a wedding was somehow a welcome break from the stress of everything else.
- Sabis asked me to be a groomsman for his July wedding, and it will be an honor to serve once more for the Speaker of the SA Senate.
- My first days on the ground as DSI’s Artistic Director have been productive. We have two new Harold teams that I’m very excited about, a great schedule for March and April (including the return of CageMatch on April 1st), and a few new shows that I can’t wait to see.
- I’m getting a little bit more sleep these days, and feel much less compressed. Katy’s Spring Break is next week, and we’ll be able to spend a lot of time together.
The Bad:
- While I was away at my brother’s wedding, I was separated from my job via e-mail. Not exactly an unwelcome development (it hadn’t been a great situation for awhile), but still a strange end to a strange tenure. The separation was done in a way that leaves me eligible for unemployment benefits, but I don’t want a long unemployment — I’m officially on the job market and pounding the pavement.
- After I dropped Katy off after Jeff’s wedding, I got caught in a police roadblock, and got nailed for expired registration and inspection. Apparently, they don’t send you a letter telling you your registration is about to expire in this state any more. And my inspection failed for the most bullshit reason imaginable, and I hadn’t gotten around to fixing it. Bad timing.
- All the expenses surrounding the wedding have resulted in some unanticipated bank fees, let’s say. Bad timing.
- My apartment smells like ass. I have been negligent in my homemaking.
All in all, I’m alive and doing fine. But don’t try me, ok?
