Bring more water next time.
June 10th, 2007 | by Scott Jennings |Weekend accomplishments:
- Went to the outlet mall in Burlington to go clothes shopping, since I haven’t bought clothes in the past eighty-five pounds or so. I’d been putting clothes shopping off because I plan to continue losing weight and I’m far too cheap to re-wardrobe twice, but I think people were starting to get hip to the fact that I’ve been wearing the same pair of jeans and the same pair of shorts that are both far too large for me. My original plan was to just pick up a couple pairs of shorts and maybe a polo or two, but I got there and the prices were just so rock-bottom and I sort of went overboard and spent $220. But I got an awesome pinstripe blazer, two button-downs, two polos, two pairs of shorts, a pair of jeans, and a fresh supply of undershirts. (There is no better feeling in this world than a brand-new undershirt. If I had ridiculous wealth, I would wear a brand-new undershirt each and every day.)
- Hung out at Linda’s with CeCe, Rossenheidi, and Andi and Ben Goetschius. Drank Honey Brown, felt some nostalgia for college. Wore new clothes, looked really good. Did bits. Was inspired to start at least two Internet-based projects. Was reminded that Franklin Street is actually pretty tolerable on a Saturday night in the summertime.
- Lots of Sports Night on DVD. Needed to come up for a little air after lots of The West Wing on DVD.
- KICKBALL. It was just about the greatest fucking thing in the world, thanks. (If I had it to over, though, I would wear the sunblock.) The World League of American Kickball will become a regularly scheduled summer event. I need to do some work on my kicking and catching and throwing; my hustle and my heart are all-star. The event ended when the kickball I procured from Wal-Mart experienced sudden rapid deflation due to its introduction to an aluminum pole. Next time: buy two.
- It’s chicken mole week for lunch. Broke my blender somehow in the process.
- Accomplished about 80% of my bedroom reorganization/decluttering project. In the course of cleaning, I found my trusty HP48G, which made me insanely happy. I have absolutely no use for a reverse Polish notation programmable graphing calculator these days, but it did make feel some nostalgia for math.
Failed to accomplish:
- Haircut.
- Cleaning the rest of the apartment.
- Sending my old laptop to my brother. I’ll get to it, Jeff.
