This is the world we live in.
September 1st, 2008 | by Scott Jennings |It’s beginning to look like the situation with Hurricane Gustav, while still very serious, won’t be as bad as it could have been. Lessons were thankfully learned after Katrina, and with a Category 5 election scheduled to make landfall in a couple of months, those lessons were forcefully and effectively put into practice. This is a good thing.
Naturally, both political campaigns have effectively suspended and turned into telethons for disaster relief. My boy Barack texted me and asked me to text him back with five measly bucks, which I think is literally the very least I could do.
But this is my only point, since I know I don’t need to hector anyone from the platform of a quickie $5 donation: this entire transaction happened via SMS. I feel like any Europeans reading this would mock my wonder, but I welcome our new telecommunications overlords. What a world.
(I also sat in astonishment at the Domino’s Pizza online ordering process tonight. I’ve been impressable.)

Even though I was in Greensboro at the time, I ought to be ashamed of ordering Domino’s. My best excuse is: we had coupons.
