Quick grammar lesson.

October 1st, 2008 | by Scott Jennings |

Since my last name is Jennings, I’m especially sensitive to the possessive form of nouns that end in “s.” Here’s the quick rundown:

My personal preference: Jennings’s

Also acceptable: Jennings’

This means you’re stupid: Jenning’s

And I thank you.

What about pronunciation? Do you insist upon “Jenningses” or will a drawn-out “Jenningzzz” do?

Neither of those options will put you in “This means you’re stupid” territory.

Hey! That’s my personal preference too! It’s precise!

What’s so stupid about that? Chri’s opinion is that it saves valuable typing time.
